Artist's Description

Great blue herons are the largest of wading birds in North America with only the Cranes being taller. Unmistakable in breeding plumage with the long plumes on their breast moving in the breeze. Often seen in the swamps, marshes and even roadside ditches where there prey can consist of frogs, crawfish , small fish and even rodents.

Nature and photography have interested me since I was young. I was inspired after reading a book, by G. Ron Austing called " I Went to the Woods". His story of falconry, raptors and nature photography is still on my bookshelf today. Over the years I have photographed a diversity of subjects but avian photography is my passion. Living in Louisiana allows me to photograph a diverse population of birds as my subjects. My images have been published on several calendars, magazine and books, to include the Tennessee Conservationist, American Birding Association, Birding Guide to Louisiana, Louisiana Conservationist calendar and Bird Watchers Digest . I have donated several images to graduate students for there presentations and various...
