Purple Gallinules are a fairly common site in the marshes of South Louisiana in the summer. Hard to misidentify with their brilliant purple and blue feathers and colorful head. As brilliant as the plumage is and individual can disappear in the marsh grasses and not be seen.

Nature and photography have interested me since I was young. I was inspired after reading a book, by G. Ron Austing called " I Went to the Woods". His story of falconry, raptors and nature photography is still on my bookshelf today. Over the years I have photographed a diversity of subjects but avian photography is my passion.
